Some Other Sucker's Tour 1997 This tour started with the following introduction: 'Tonight is the big one. Numero Uno. Nights don't get any bigger than this. The nights of nights. The nightiest night of them all. The night which, according to all the forecasts, promises to be the greatest night of Del Amitri's life. You're watching Coffee Time USA. We'll be back after these messages.' The above is taken from the book & play 'Popcorn' by Ben Elton. The lead character, a film director named Bruce Delamitri, is expected to win an Oscar for his latest film, a Natural Born Killers style movie. The book is a satire on copycat killings and the role of the media. Oh, and the book was only published in 1996, so that's not where the name Del Amitri came from! Royal Albert Hall, London - 28 Oct 1997 An unusual show with an acoustic set backed by a string section, followed by a more normal rock set. After the first two songs Justin announces: Okay here's the plan. We've never played here before and it sounds really fancy and posh so we're gonna be really pretentious, because all pop bands always dream of playing with string players, because all pop bands are deeply pretentious. So we're gonna do some songs we haven't done for years, a couple of things we've never done before. And then we're gonna go off, and we're gonna come back on and do the normal pop show. So when we leave we will be coming back on, you can go and get a drink and don't need to clap. At this point on my tape of the show a Scottish voice yells out 'we won't anyway'!
