Songwriter's Circle, Archaos, Glasgow - 26 May 1999 Justin appeared on this show along with Edwin Collins and Graham Lyle. He is also very reluctant to play Nothing Ever Happens and has to be persuaded by the others. [Return to top] |

Music Hall, Aberdeen - 30 December 1999 ![]() The reviews suggest that this was another stunning performance from the band. They introduced another brand new song 'Drunk In A Band' and also played three cover versions. Support was by a local band called The Needles. Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh - 31 December 1999 This was part of Edinburgh's traditional New Year celebrations in Princes Street. This is generally regarded as THE place to be on any New Years Eve let alone the end of the millenium. By all accounts the Dels did not disappoint with a rocking set, slightly shortened from the Aberdeen show the night before. The Dels were second on the bill, along with the Bay City Rollers and the headliners, the Mavericks. The Edinburgh celebrations were featured on ITV, but they showed only a brief snippet of Roll Away The Stone - you can download this from here - it's not much but it is worth a listen! Kiss This Thing Goodbye Drunk In A Band (the new song again) Just Like A Man Roll Away The Stone (cover of a Mott The Hoople track) Here and Now Driving With The Brakes On Not Where It's At Get Down Tonight (cover of a KC and the Sunshine Band hit) Spit In The Rain The End (cover of a Doors song) [Return to top] |

King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow - 13 February 2000 This was a one-off show by Kevin McDermott as part of the venue's 10th birthday celebrations. Kevin is an old friend of the Dels, and so both Justin and Iain appeared as guests. The night started with Kevin doing a couple of acoustic tracks, before being joined on stage by his usual backing band, the Kevin McDermott Orchestra, and also Iain Harvie. Justin arrived on stage six songs in and sung the lead on a Kevin McDermott song Angel, followed by his own track Lucky Guy. Kevin then returned the compliment by singing the Dels songs Kiss This Thing Goodbye and Here & Now. Included in the encores was a cover of the All Saints' number one hit Never Ever, which featured Justin on vocals, including the spoken introduction! For more info on Kevin McDermott, have a look at his site here. The full setlist was as follows. Hole In The Ground Hayley's Comet Navigator Icarus Landing Where We Were Meant To Be Angel (with Justin singing lead) All That I Am Lucky Guy (the Dels song, with Justin singing lead) Kiss This Thing Goodbye (the Dels song, with Kevin singing lead) Big New Beginning Hangin' On A Limb Here And Now (the Dels song, with Kevin singing lead) Mother Nature's Kitchen Never Ever (cover of the All Saints track, with Justin singing lead) Wheels Of Wonder Farewell To Jenny Lynd Love Train (cover of the O'Jays song) [Return to top] |
